Last week, pupils and staff from Oversands School wore yellow for World Mental Health Day as part of the #HelloYellow campaign from Young Minds.

The international day promotes global mental health education, awareness and advocacy and was first celebrated in 1992 and now each October, people across the world help to bring awareness and attention to it.

The day at Oversands was bursting with activities starting with staff hosting different workshops including well-being, stigma and support, supporting others and recognising that’s it ok to not be ok and there’s always someone to help.

In the afternoon there was an emphasis on the importance of enjoying activities as pupils enjoyed an array of them,  such as lyric writing, wellbeing, football, cooking and art. To round off the day, everyone came together in the hall to enjoy cupcakes, an opportunity to chill and chat.

The day was a great success and opened up the all-important conversation on mental health.
