World Mental Health Day 2022
Children, young people and staff from across Witherslack Group recently celebrated World Mental Health day.
The international day promotes global mental health education, awareness and advocacy, it was first celebrated in 1992, and now each October, people across the world help to bring awareness and attention to it.
Here, we round up the efforts of teams across our Group.
Cumberland School
Pupils from Cumberland School celebrated World Mental Health Day by taking part in an activity about ‘Being Kind to Yourself’. This involved relaxation sessions through craft activities, where they enjoyed creating keyrings for themselves or for someone else as an act of kindness.
Pontville School
At Pontville School, everyone came together to celebrate World Mental Health Day as part of the #HelloYellow campaign for YoungMinds by raiding their wardrobes and picking out their yellow clothes.
During the day, they also enjoyed learning about the different ways people can be affected by mental health and were given activities and strategies to improve their own mental health. They did this by taking part in assemblies and an array of activities, including positive affirmations, wellbeing bingo, yellow quizzes and much, much more.
The yellow theme continues at the 16-19 Vocational Centre, where the student-led snack shack, was set up and ready for other students and staff.
The money raised is being donated to YoungMinds to help provide vital resources for this great cause.
The Grange Learning Centre
The Grange Learning Centre came together by taking part in some fun-filled activities, including getting dressed up in yellow sumo suits to enjoy quality time togther.
It was a great event, enjoyed by everyone.
