Witherslack Group is delighted to announce that our Pontville and Westmorland schools have been shortlisted for four prestigious TES Independent School Awards 2015.  Remarkably, Pontville has been shortlisted for three awards including: ‘Special needs initiative of the year’, ‘Senior leadership team of the year’ and ‘Best independent-maintained school collaboration’; whilst Westmorland have been nominated for ‘Special needs initiative of the year’.  Needless to say that both schools are counting down the days to see who the judges select as the winner.

The awards celebrate those making remarkable contributions to independent schools across the UK, with the winners being announced at a special awards ceremony on Friday 27th November 2015 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.  Representatives of Pontville and Westmorland  along with Witherslack Group staff will attend the awards evening.

Phil Jones, Witherslack Groups Chief Executive Officer, commented on the award nominations: “I always take great pride and pleasure in the achievements of both our staff and young people.  The commitment and skills of our staff are one of the unique characteristics that set Witherslack Group apart from other educational providers.  Therefore, I take great encouragement by the fact that we are now regularly finding ourselves shortlisted for national awards and accreditations, with the latest being the TES Independent School Awards.”

Mr Jones further added: “Our Westmorland School has followed being nominated in the overall TES School Awards earlier in the year with a further nomination, whilst fellow Witherslack Group member, Pontville School, has amazingly been shortlisted in three categories.  It goes without saying that these nominations are a fantastic tribute to all the staff and young people at each school and something that everyone at Witherslack Group is truly proud of.  We wish those representing both schools at the awards evening the very best of luck.”

If the schools win they will be presented with a trophy at the awards ceremony. We look forward to the announcement of the winners and well done to everyone at both schools on receiving such amazing recognition for their continued efforts.
