Ambassadors adventure
Since September, the Ambassadors from Westmorland School have been on a mission to explore new cities. Recently, they enjoyed a two-night stay in the Midlands, including a trip to Alton Towers and exploring the city of Birmingham.
The first day of their adventure started at Alton Towers, where they conquered fears and put their map reading skills to the test. The pupils planned their course through the park, carefully considering the rides they would like to go on and the areas they wanted to visit.
After an adrenaline-filled day, they travelled to their accommodation close to Birmingham, where they pulled together as a team to make dinner and then spent the rest of the evening enjoying some time to relax and playing games.
The second day was spent exploring the city of Birmingham. Equipped with homemade packed lunches, the pupils boarded the train into the city, where they followed different trails around the canal solving clues and puzzles. In the afternoon, they immersed themselves into the wonders of the Lego Discovery Centre where they spent time planning and building model cars. Prior to the trip, they had been saving money at school and they used this to buy themselves a Lego set.
On the last day, the explorers asked to return to Alton Towers as they had missed some rides. On their return, they found that one of the rides they wanted to conquer was closed but they still had a great time.
Upon their return home, the pupils reminisced on their favourite parts of the trip. One pupil commented:
“I loved working together with my friends to be independent around the house.”
Rebecca Harrison, Teacher, was proud of the team, commenting:
"They were excellent representatives of the school developing new skills, and showing resilience, independence and respect throughout. I am very proud of them all."
What a fantastic opportunity. Well done Ambassadors!
