Supporting the local community
Pupils from Pontville School recently rolled up their sleeves to give a helping hand to 'volunteer it yourself', who renovated Bickerstaffe Football Club's changing rooms.
‘Volunteer it yourself is an organisation that supports community projects and helps young people learn trade skills. Team Pontville contributed considerably to the project, demonstrating and developing their painting skills and building picnic benches.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the project, learning new skills, and gaining experience about life on a construction while also achieving a qualification from the work they completed.
Paul and Scott, mentors from 'Volunteer it yourself' commented:
"It was a pleasure to work with the pupils, and we are pleased with the effort and passion they put into everything they did.
Word in the classroom is that pupils can't wait for the next project.
