Pontville Blog 164: More great news from Pontville bloggers!

12 August 2022

The team of bloggers from Pontville School share even more highlights from last term.

Football Tournament

Pontville hosted our first football tournament playing Cumberland School, which was refereed by our very own Year 11 pupil, George. It was a great tournament as pupils took to the pitch with great enthusiasm playing magnificently while demonstrating great footballing skills and excellent sportsmanship.

Teacher and Coach, Dan Field shares more detail:

It was a proud day today as the KS3 football team played their first ever fixture. Well done to Jak, Paul and Elliot, who scored goals and for everyone who participated in the match, including a big shout out to Misha and Levi.

Well done team!

Larchville Weekly

Larch Class Teacher, Clare Newby shares the final edition of Larchville Weekly.

Larch Class has been working hard researching articles for the 'Larchville Weekly' as well as reading aloud their articles on the media bus, which were recorded for broadcasting.  Great work everyone!

Camping and hiking

As part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, a group of pupils enjoyed an overnight camp in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.  During their adventure, they explored caves and enjoyed a hike to the top of Pen-y-Ghent.

Tom’s solo performance

Residential pupil, Tom took to the stage at Ormskirk Civic Hall to perform a solo in the community choir. Everyone was very proud of Tom’s performance, especially his parents who thanked everyone for their tremendous support.

Outstanding A level Art

Art Teacher, James Williams shares details of one students outstanding art work:

Summer produced some outstanding art and photography as part of her A-Level art qualification.  Using a range of techniques, she worked with a member of staff to create her hair and makeup, inspired by the theme of Medusa.

Impressive stuff – well-done Summer!

Creative stories

Finally, pupils from Maple Class put pen to paper to create some beautifully hand-written stories.  As inspiration, they were provided with a starter sentence which they used to get the creative juices flowing. They also took the brave step to read their poems out to the class.
