Pontville Blog 138: Monkey puzzle tree planted
30 October 2020
Pupil, Kian from Pontville School recently planted a money puzzle tree with the help of Forest School Leader, Mal Moore.
The keen gardener measured the height of the tree and plans to measure it every year at the beginning of the academic year to see how much it has grown.
Kian was proud to be involved in this project and takes great joy in seeing it flourish when he attends Forest School lessons. He also unearthed a fact about the tree which he shared with staff and friends – the monkey puzzle tree has been around for 200 million years when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. Its spine-like needles acted as protection from ancient grazing animals.
Well done Kian!
