The future workforce is here
Oversands School recently hosted an Apprenticeship Fair, attracting a variety of employers eager to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week. Among the attendees were businesses such as Kendal College, Lancaster and Morecambe College, BAE Systems and Cumbria Tourism, each offering valuable insights and opportunities to enthusiastic pupils.
The fair provided a platform for pupils to immerse themselves in workshops tailored to show the variety of industries and career pathways available through apprenticeships. The interactive sessions not only informed pupils about the operations of businesses but also enabled them to envision themselves in practical work environments.
BAE spent time with pupils exploring pathways into employment and offered to return to Oversands to host more sessions and workshops. They also offered the pupils a chance to visit a site.
Both Kendal and Lancaster and Morecambe colleges offered fantastic support and advice. The team discussed many of the programmes they offer and explored the careers they could lead into.
Overall, the fair served as a valuable opportunity to explore and embrace the multitude of possibilities available through apprenticeships. By fostering meaningful connections between pupils and employers and offering firsthand experiences, the event undoubtedly left a lasting impression, empowering them to embark on their career journeys with confidence and clarity.
