The future is bright
The future is promising at Oversands School, where local employers and colleges recently came together to engage with pupils.
The employers generously shared insights on the pathways to employment, the key attributes and skills they value in their employees, and the diverse daily tasks in their respective roles. The visitors were impresses with pupils, who wholeheartedly participated in the event, leaving a lasting impression on all the guests.
Paul Wilkinson, the school's Careers Lead commented:
“We are commitment to increasing the frequency of employer interactions. It’s important to acquaint pupils with local businesses and colleges, as it’s an essential step in guiding them through their educational journey. By planting these early seeds of knowledge, they gain a crucial understanding of the pathways toward a successful career.”
He continued:
“We were proud to welcome Lancaster City Council, Cumbria Tourism, Different Strokes, Gen2 and Kendal College.”
The employers, thoroughly impressed by Oversands School, have not only expressed their willingness to return and offer tailored training for the pupils, but also to establish a collaborative relationship the Futures Team.
