Environmental pledge unveiled
Pupils from Oversands School recently formed an Eco-School Committee as part of its plan to become more environmentally friendly.
During their first official meeting, the group completed an environmental audit of the school, looking into litter, electricity, and green spaces.
Following this, the committee’s next steps are to develop an action plan to tackle the areas that need to be improved so that they can work towards the Eco-Schools Awards.
The Eco-Schools Awards is an internationally recognised award for excellence, celebrating environmental action and learning. The programme is pupil-led, involving hands-on learning that gets the whole school and the wider community involved in exciting environmental projects. The programme celebrates milestones of participants as they achieve Bronze Award and Silver Award, leading to the Green Flag Award.
We look forward to more updates on their progress in achieving the award; good luck everyone!
