Ofsted success at Abbeywood
Pupils, parents and staff from Abbeywood School are celebrating following the publication of their first report by Ofsted. The school has been judged as good which highlights the brilliant learning environment the school offers to all of its pupils.
The school prides itself on giving pupils a happy, welcoming and inspiring environment where they can enjoy learning and achieve success. To the delight of everyone these fantastic qualities were noted in the report.
Head Teacher, Sarah Douglas proudly commented:
"I am incredibly proud of the impeccable start that the community at Abbeywood has made; in particular I am delighted that Ofsted were able to recognise that the staff teamwork is very strong and that there is a welcoming ethos. I am also thankful to parents who were able to share how Abbeywood has transformed their children’s lives."
The report noted:
In the short time the school has been open leaders have established a calm, supportive and welcoming school ethos. This enables pupils to settle quickly and consequently their personal development, and outcomes improve rapidly.
- Leaders, teachers, therapeutic staff and assistants have a deep understanding of each pupil’s needs. This informs all aspects of their work and is of great benefit to the pupils.
- Parents and carers comment that the school has transformed their children’s lives. They value the regular communication and support that the school provides.
- Staff teamwork is very strong. Teachers and assistants work closely together to ensure that pupils learn well.
- Assessment information shows that pupils make good progress from their starting points. Teachers are effective in meeting pupils’ identified needs.
