Fireman Kai

08 December 2023

Embarking on a journey with the Fire Cadets marked a transformative decision for pupil, Kai from Luxborough Court School, who was eager to be active and productive after school.

Here, Kai pens down his motivation for joining.

“I applied to the Fire Cadets as I want to be active on an evening on a Wednesday after school instead of sitting in my house all evening. I had to make an application to the Fire Brigade of why I wanted to join. A few weeks later a man called John called me and asked if I would like to attend an interview. I jumped at the opportunity.”

He continued:

“At the interview I was asked to explain why I wanted to be a Fire Cadet. I told the interview panel, “I am applying because I want to become a fire fighter when I am older and that this would be good experience for me.” I was then asked what I wanted to get out of being a Fire Cadet, and I told them “I am hoping to get real life experience of what life as a firefighter is like and to also learn new skills and improve my fitness. I am also hoping to make new friends who share similar interests to me.”  A few days later I received a call from them to say that I had been accepted to be a fire cadet and that I would do my training at Rainham Fire Station.”

Proud Deputy Head Teacher, Emma Sullivan commented:

Chris Williams, Regional Director for Witherslack Group commented:

“We couldn't be more proud of Kai's achievements. He is a real asset to Luxborough Court School.”

Well done Kai, we are all very proud.
