Cat cuddles with a dose of life skills
Pupils from Luxborough Court School recently enjoyed interacting with Pablo, the resident therapy cat and even got the opportunity to learn essential life skills.
During the lesson, they learned the importance of grooming animals, helping them understand the significance of maintaining good hygiene; they learned about nutrition for cats and the importance of a balanced diet and portion control.
They also looked at building trust with animals, which is essential for their well-being and were taught techniques such as gentle petting, speaking softly and being respectful of the animal’s needs.
Finally, they spent some time lead training Pablo with the use of a harness and lead, and provided him with tasty treats to help with positive reinforcement so he would respond to specific commands.
The day was a great success, providing pupils with hands-on experience in animal care and teaching them valuable life skills which can be applied to various aspects of their lives.
