New parent group launched
Staff from Lavender Lodge School recently launched their new 'Parents Supporting Parents Group,' which provides parents and carers with a safe space to meet with others in similar circumstances to themselves.
Family Liaison Officer, Amanda Atvars, who facilitates the sessions, shares more detail:
"The sessions have been set up in order for parents to share their knowledge and experiences, providing support to one another, and most importantly to empower one another through what are often, challenging times."
Amanda continues:
"Pastoral Care Assistant, Tonika Ashley and myself, have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the parents, and what has actually been achieved through just one session. The discussions were supportive, covering an array of topics, including sleep, the positives of using ASD lanyards in the community and how to get your GP to listen. Every session, was informative and parents left with a smile on their face ready to try something new."

What a great initiative.
