Lavender Lodge celebrates Green Flag Award
Pupils and staff from Lavender Lodge School are celebrating following the announcement they have been awarded The Green Flag Award. The coveted award is a visible indication of their commitment to learning about sustainability and is an internationally recognised accreditation for excellence in sustainable education.
The school’s dedicated Eco-committee has been working on innovative ways to protect and preserve the environment, including initiatives to conserve water and electricity, as well as increase recycling efforts. They have also shown a remarkable passion for their roles and have consistently contributed brilliant ideas during their termly meetings.
The Eco-Schools Team reported:
“Your Eco-Committee have carefully considered how they can involve their entire school in their planned Eco-Schools’ activities to achieve maximum impacts and raise awareness amongst their school community. It’s clear that you have embedded environmental issues into your curriculum with great enthusiasm and these issues are being used to enrich learning in your school, whilst engaging young people in important issues. We hope all staff members involved in your Eco-Schools work take immense amounts of pride from the parental quote uploaded. Your hard work and dedication has inspired young people and empowered them with the belief that they can positively impact our planet – this is something incredibly special."
