Willow Class Visit Asylum Link Merseyside
Pupils from Willow Class at Lakeside School recently had a very thought provoking experience when they visited Asylum Link Merseyside, in Liverpool to donate a collection of unwanted clothing.
Asylum Link is an organisation dedicated to assisting Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Liverpool, and to raising public awareness around refugee issues. It is a welcoming and safe place for people from all countries to meet, relax and find out about the city they have arrived in.
During their visit pupils found out that they sell the clothes that are donated in a small shop onsite to raise money to buy food for the people that have come to seek asylum in Liverpool. They also met refugees from many different countries and learned about the process that they go through to live in the UK.
This was a great opportunity for pupils to see first-hand what happens to the items they donated and how the money raised is used to help other people who really need it.
Well done everyone!
