Inclusivity celebrated
Hall Cliffe School has been working towards The Rainbow Flag Award since September 2023 and recently achieved the ‘Student Voice Standards’, bringing pupils and the team one step closer to earning the award.
The Rainbow Flag Award is a national framework designed for schools to take a positive approach to LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities), which consists of six standards that must be achieved to receive the full award. The school has achieved three so far and is now working towards ‘Inclusive Curriculum’ and ‘Pastoral Support.’
To get to this point, the team and pupils have been introducing strategies to create an inclusive learning environment, including the LQBT+ lunch club. They have also been using their voices to raise awareness and sharing their opinons and ideas too through the School Council.
Nicola Kirkbride, PSHE/SMSC Teacher, commented, “I am passionate about creating an inclusive environment that allows individuals to express and celebrate their individuality.’’
Well done to everyone involved.
