Young people and staff from Ashby House, The Spires, Vine Lodge and Vine Grove children’s homes all came together recently for a super sports day. The four homes competed for the much-coveted regional sports trophy.

Mel Dougil, Regional Manager (Care) has let us in on the action:

Every young person attended the event and enthusiastically took part in a range of activities throughout the day, including limbo, penalty shoot outs, the old favourite egg and spoon race and a very competitive tug of war. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed the barbecue and after a little rest explored the bouncy slide and bungee rope.

During the day new friendships were made and we all learnt how truly competitive the home managers are. There were victories for every home, with Ashby House taking first and second place in the limbo and Vine Grove leaving everyone behind in the egg and spoon race. The Spires were easily the winners of the penalty shoot-out and Vine Lodge took an easy first place in the tug of war.  It was a closely fought race with only a few points separating the first and second places but Vine Lodge were victorious in the end taking home the trophy with The spires coming second.

It looks like everyone had a brilliant time!
