Hatching a plan
12 July 2024
Pupils from Greenholm School recently welcomed some furry friends to the classroom.
The school was given nine duck eggs, and before they hatched, pupils spent time learning about the development of the chicks and the care that would be required for the ducklings once they arrived.
The real work began after the eggs hatched, where everyone embraced their roles as caregivers. They rotated duties, ensuring the ducklings were fed, hydrated, and comfortable in their new habitat. This project quickly became the highlight of the school day.
Sheila Everett, a teacher at the London school, said:
“The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience of watching the newly hatched chicks.”
What a cracking opportunity
