'Good' news: Chilworth House Upper triumphs in Ofsted Inspection

10 June 2024

Pupils, parents and the team from Chilworth House Upper School are celebrating following the publication of their most recent report by Ofsted, which judged the school as ‘Good.’

Located in Oxfordshire, the school’s report praised the school for the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

Highlights from the report include:

  • Pupils flourish at this inclusive school, which they describe as a ‘massive family’. They appreciate the difference that the school has made to them.
  • Leaders’ expectations encourage pupils to have aspirations for their future career goals and many leave with the skills and qualification they need to be successful.
  • Adults combine high expectations with warmth and understanding so that pupils feel happy and safe.
  • Pupils’ personal development is exceptional. This is the bedrock of the school’s work and is successfully developing pupils’ independence and preparing them for adulthood.
  • Staff use their subject expertise well to create activities that help most pupils to learn the curriculum that the school has designed.
  • One parent summing of the views of others stated, ‘the strong trusted relationships with adults at the school have helped my child express their emotions in a more positive way’.

Head Teacher, Michelle Jonhson commented:

“I am proud of the pupils and the whole staff team at Chilworth House Upper School. This report is a reflection of the care and connection within our community. We are delighted to be recognised as outstanding for personal development which is key at Chilworth House Upper School to prepare for adulthood and working life. Well done to every child and adult in our community, what a great achievement!’

Well done Chilworth House Upper School.
