Staff from Lakeland House Children’s Home are celebrating the achievements of Ethan, a young person who has got off to a very promising start in his journey to becoming a firefighter.
In his first year, The promising firefighter joined the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Fire Cadets in Carnforth where he has developed a whole host of skills and thrived in challenges, including delivering presentations to senior members of the service. Whilst thriving to develop his skills and confidence, he has also become an integral part of the team of young firefighters.
Ethan recently took part in a fire fighting demonstration in front of parents, teachers and pupils at the local high school, where the crew simulated their reaction to a major blaze, which included riding to the fire on the back of the fire engines, and responding with full sirens and lights; not bad for someone who used to panic when the fire alarm sounded in the house!
In recognition of his efforts, Ethan was promoted to Crew Manager in Training, which means he will be given responsibility for running drills and training of his fellow cadets. The event was attended by his friends from the home, past and present, Colin, Tracy, Becca, Jess and Home Manager, Richard Whinham who commented:
We are all extremely proud of Ethan and of everything that he has achieved in his time with the Fire Service. He is now halfway through a GCSE focusing on his work in the community for the service, and hopes next year to continue on his career path with yet another move up the ranks!
Ethan proudly commented:
One day I’ll probably be Chief Officer
Well done Ethan, we have our fingers crossed for you!
