Dovetree School is officially green
Pupils and staff from Dovetree School are celebrating following the announcement that their Eco-Committee have been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.
The Eco-Schools Awards is an internationally recognised award for excellence, celebrating environmental action and learning. The pupil-led programme involves hands-on learning that gets the whole school and the wider community involved in exciting environmental projects. The programme celebrates the milestones of participants as they achieve Bronze Award and Silver Award, leading to the Green Flag Award.
The report from the Eco-Schools Team, was glowing in praise for the keen environmentalist. Highlights included:
- It’s very impressive that you have formed such a large Eco-Committee. It shows that young people in your school are aware of environmental issues and committed to being active and creating positive change.
- This knowledge and attitude has provided your school with excellent foundations for the many successes that you’ve achieved this year. Your Eco-Committee were elected democratically, which is a fair and mature approach – well done to selected members on their appointment!
- It’s brilliant that young people were given the responsibility for recording meeting minutes. This will allow them to take ownership over the Eco-Schools programme and develop their listening, communication and teamwork skills.”
“Your Eco-Code is very punchy, clear and easy to digest for those that see it. It’s a direct call to action. We love this! Thank you so much for submitting such a terrific application. We have loved reading about your journey and are incredibly impressed by all you have achieved. We have no hesitation in awarding you an Eco-Schools Green Flag, congratulations!”
Well done, everyone.
