Anti-bullying award achieved 14 days

10 November 2023

In record time, Dovetree School has achieved the BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying 2023-2024, demonstrating their excellent anti-bullying strategies already in place.

The BIG AWARD is given for excellence by the Bullying Intervention Group, and to achieve this, members work to meet the externally agreed criteria. Leading on the project, Will Neale, Pastoral Care Assistant, has worked diligently and has been recognised for his efforts by Val McFarlane, Director of Bullying Intervention Group, who commented:

“Dovetree School is one of the few schools that has joined Bullying Intervention Group with such a wide range of anti-bullying strategies already in place. Mr Neale has been leading on the portfolio, and Dovetree is only the second school in the country to achieve the BIG Award within a fortnight of becoming a member of our organisation! Dovetree is a caring school, the staff want the pupils to learn and socialise in a friendly and inclusive environment. This shows in the strategies they employ to address bullying. There is an excellent anti-bullying policy, a monitoring and recording scheme and the pupils and parents are involved in planning and implementing anti-bullying work. The school has regular staff training and awareness raising events too. I am delighted to award Dovetree with the BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying. Well done to Mr Neale, all pupils, parents and staff.”

Well done, everyone.
