Green thumbs at Cumberland School
12 July 2024
Bobby, a year 10 pupil and garden monitor at Cumberland School, has dedicated time and effort to growing vegetables on the school grounds; he is very proud of his first harvest—garlic!
The gardener diligently fulfils his role, with his daily tasks including planting, weeding, and general maintenance. After months of dedication, Bobby was thrilled to discover that his garlic was finally ready to be harvested. He observed that it smelled strong and was surprised to learn that the leaves and trimmings could be used to deter pests in the vegetable garden.
Bobby was very proud to take some of the garlic home for his mum and hand over some of the crops to Jayne, a member of the school’s kitchen team.
Keep up the good work Bobby!
