Garden Monitors get planting

27 October 2023

The newly formed Garden Monitor group have been busy at Cumberland School Station Road Campus, where they have been planting autumnal greenery for their entrance.

The team, made up of gardening enthusiasts, is pupil-led and recently, they gathered for their first meeting where they agreed on actions to work towards this term. The achievable list included brightening up their entrance area to school by purchasing seasonal plants, which they classed as ‘very dull and an uninviting area.’

The strategic thinkers have agreed to meet every half-term to voice their thoughts and put plans in place for the future development of their new sensory garden and growing area over the academic year.

Pupil, Alfie commented:

“I really enjoyed doing this, I would like to be involved with the garden side this year. I helped to grow the Sensory Garden at our KS3 site and really enjoyed growing the veg and looking after the garden.”

The team are looking forward to planting garlic and onions soon so they are planted before the winter begins.

Great work, everyone!
