First Aid brilliance
One pupil from Cumberland School told staff that he wanted to develop his knowledge and understanding of first aid. Fast-forward to now, the team made it happen, inviting young people to join a two-day first aid awareness course.
The sessions allowed pupils to develop their skills to assist in coping with a potential emergency. They were taught vital life skills by a member of staff who is a first aid instructor, including CPR, using a defibrillator and dealing with significant bleeding.
The sessions were well received by pupils, enabling them to build their confidence. Pupil Bobby commented:
"I wanted to learn about first aid, so I spoke to staff, and they helped me to make it happen. It was brilliant, I really enjoyed it. I wish I could do it all day!"
Next term, staff are planning to extend the invite to all Key Stage 4 pupils because of the success of this session.
Great work, everyone.
