MP Freddie Van Mierlo visits schools
Recently, Chilworth House School and Chilworth House Upper School had the pleasure of welcoming local MP Freddie van Mierlo. The visit offered pupils an opportunity to learn more about the role of an MP and discuss issues that matter to them.
The day began with a tour of both schools and was followed up with a sit-down Q&A session with the student council. Pupils asked insightful questions about his role, why he pursued politics and whether being in the Houses of Parliament is scary. They also delved deeper, asking whether people believed he could do the job.
One pupil courageously raised a critical issue about the shortage of ADHD medication and its misuse on the black market, which leads to individuals having limited access. Freddie assured them of his commitment to the matter, explaining his efforts in engaging pharmaceutical companies and advocating for increased Government funding. He encouraged the pupils to write him a formal letter to strengthen his campaign.
The visit concluded with an exciting invitation from Freddie for the pupils to visit Parliament, where they will experience democracy in action.
