Raising awareness of a great cause
Children and young people have got into the spirit of this year’s BBC Children in Need by taking part in a range of activities to raise money and awareness for the great cause on Friday 13 November. The annual November appeal helps the charity to fund local charities and projects which help remove the barriers that are facing children and young people so that they can thrive.
At Chilworth House School, in the lead up to the day a cake sale was organised to raise money. Inspired by their learning of Diwali, the Hindi festival of light, the children decorated their treats with art inspired by the festival.
During the cake sales, pupils behind the counter took their roles and responsibilities of serving the treats with pride, whilst others used their money wisely to make sure they didn’t miss out on any of the treats.
On Friday, pupils arrived in fun clothing and costumes, and the school’s Student Council took the responsibility of collecting a pound from all the donators. As part of the day, staff participated in a duck race. Altogether, they raised £50!
