Award celebrates TAs
Pupils and the team from Chilworth House School are celebrating their latest achievement, recognising the development opportunities and support available to teaching assistants.
The school has been awarded the Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award. The award provides a framework for strategically managing teaching assistants to support them and recognise their impact on positive pupil outcomes.
Schools that achieve this demonstrate clear systems for induction, appraisal, effective deployment, and professional development to allow teaching assistants to develop their strengths.
The key points from Chilworth House School’s verification report noted:
- TAs are valued at Chilworth House and groups of stakeholders commented on this, for example, valuing ‘their hard work and resilience’ (teacher).
- TAs make a strong contribution to pupils learning and monitoring their progress.
- TA skills, talents, relevant previous work, qualifications and experience are used effectively to support pupils in school.
- TAs are very much included as part of this team and are well informed about pupils in their own class and throughout the school.
- Pupils demonstrated a positive attitude towards TAs in their feedback at verification.
Celebrating this award are Higher Level Teaching Assistants Hannah Licata and Paulien Eijckeler.
What an achievement!
