Cedar House pupil picks up well deserved award

06 September 2016

Courtney, a Year 11 leaver from Cedar House School and a resident who lives at one of our children’s homes recently celebrated her win at the Cumbria Children in Care Council (CiCC) Awards 2016.

Courtney was crowned the winner in her category of Educational Achievement, which is an absolutely fantastic. She is such a deserving winner having made significant progress academically in the lead up to her GCSE exams in the summer.

Along with her Key Worker, Courtney enjoyed the awards day where all 97 nominees came together to celebrate the regional awards. As a winner, she was awarded a certificate and a shopping voucher for her success.

Home Manager, Martin Ellis, proudly commented:

“I know the journey Courtney has been on over the last two and a half years and, in all honesty, Courtney deserves every ounce of credit. Courtney always says that she wants to work in children’s homes or schools when she’s older and if she carries on with her positive outlook I would happily employ her in the future”.

Courtney hopes to pursue a career in childcare and is looking forward to enrolling on a course at Kendal College.
