Budding entrepreneurs spread festive cheer

16 December 2024

Pupils from across WG have been getting into the festive spirit by attending virtual workshops hosted by Fashion Designer and entrepreneur Kirsty Doyle. They were tasked to make products to sell in a shop, the Christmas Craft Grott, at Liverpool’s Metquarter Shopping Centre, to raise money and awareness of a local food bank, The Hope Foundation.

In the lead-up to the event, the budding creators got stuck into making wreaths, cards, earrings and other keepsakes for the worthy cause. Alongside this, they also prepared business plans, which supported their learning around pricing, branding, and understanding the value of their masterpieces.

For the main event, pupils ventured to the shop, where they helped to set up and display their goodies, ready to sell to paying customers.

Kerrie Louca-Weston, Head Teacher at Avon Park School commented: “The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the session it was great.”

Sarah Edwards, Futures Lead said:  ‘Kirsty encouraged the students to be as creative as they wanted, resulting in some fabulous items being made. She adapted the sessions to suit and interacted with the students who were all keen to show her their creations.”

Well done to everyone involved, what a fantastic initiative.
