Bridgeway School Explore Mental Health

26 March 2020

Pupils and staff from Bridgeway School recently held a Mental Health day where they explored the topic that affects one in four adults and one in ten children. Mental health issues are on the rise and there have been many different initiatives including, taking a pause from everyday life to discuss our state of mind and help each other.

The day was spent exploring what mental health is, who could help both in and out school if needed, strategies to support friends and family going through tough times and useful  language around the topic. They also discussed what makes an individual who they are and dispelled myths about the notion of being ‘normal’.  To roundup their day, pupils went to their Friday enrichment activities to further enhance their wellbeing.

The day was full of learning and discovery, it has helped pupils to empathise with one another and has allowed the topic to be discussed freely in a more open and trusting way.

Well done everyone!
