Books and a brand new space
This term, Hall Cliffe School unveiled the ‘Treehouse,’ a calm and restful reading space for everyone to enjoy alongside a whole school initiative, the Accelerated Reader program, where pupils have the independence to choose books and complete quizzes.
The school’s timetable has been adapted to introduce weekly sessions at the Treehouse, where pupils enjoy reading as part of a group or independently. Managed by Ellie Hirst HLTA and Zoe Wilkinson, TA, the pupils can also receive support during their sessions from friendly, passionate members of the staff team.
The new space has been a welcomed addition, where pupils enjoy spending time as they feel calm, happy and content. The relaxed space is also recognised as an area where they can improve their reading age and book levels.
Ellie commented:
"We are greeted by happy and enthusiastic pupils weekly, and it’s great that so many have overcome their reading obstacles in a safe space to explore books".
Well done everyone.
