Avon Park Celebrates Eco-Schools Award
Pupils and staff from Avon Park School celebrated the news that they have been awarded the Silver Award for The Eco-Schools Awards. The internationally recognised award for excellence, The Eco- School Awards celebrates environmental action and learning.
The Eco-Schools Programme is pupil-led, involving hands-on learning that gets the whole school and the wider community involved in exciting environmental projects. The programme celebrates milestones of participants as they achieve Bronze Award and Silver Award, leading to the Green Flag Award.
The Eco-Schools programme is an ideal way for schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment both in school and the local community while at the same time having a life-long positive impact on the lives of young people and their families.
At Avon Park, pupils and staff have been working together to raise awareness of the ecological impacts and during the project, they planted 12 new trees in the schools grounds. The school’s student council has also pledged to reduce plastic waste and are working to develop a plan to promote the importance of recycling.
As the celebrations continue, the school is now looking to achieve their Green Flag Award.
Well done everyone!
