Knife Angel Visit
24 June 2024
Pupils from Ashbrooke School recently visited the Knife Angel sculpture, which is currently being hosted in Sunderland.
Made from over 100,000 seized blades, it was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour while solidifying the critical need for social change. Families of victims engraved some of the weapons with messages of hope, which can now be seen on the angel's wings.
During the visit, pupils wrote kind messages and hung them around the sculpture, raising awareness about knife crime and learning about its impacts and consequences. Inspired by the experience, the pupils have also started raising money for the Connor Brown Trust.
