Ashbrooke celebrates being inclusive
Pupils and staff from Ashbrooke School are thrilled with the announcement that they have been awarded the IQM Centre of Excellence Award.
The Inclusion Quality Mark Award provides UK schools with a nationally recognised validation of their inclusive practice and ongoing commitment to developing educational inclusion.
To add to the celebratory mood further, the school has also been recommended for the IQM Centre of Excellence Award and has also been put forward for the IQM Flagship Award - around 100 UK schools have achieved this.
To achieve the award, the school submitted a comprehensive self-evaluation report and a detailed timetable enabling the opportunity to review evidence linked to the eight elements of the IQM framework. This was carried out with the needs of the pupils firmly at the centre of the assessment and highlighted leaders’ knowledge of the inclusive practice.
During the assessment, the assessor evaluated the school’s commitment to inclusion through various documents and activities.
Pastoral Manager Kevin Graham commented:
"Staff welcomed the Inclusion Quality Mark Team to the school, hoping to be recognised as an IQM inclusive school. This is a great achievement and we are all thrilled."
