Pupils Say Goodbye To Big Foot
Pupils and staff from Abbeywood School recently had to say goodbye to their furry friend, Big Foot, the school rabbit.
The school community has managed the passing of their much-loved pet positively so that everyone is reminded of the fond memories they share of Big Foot. As part of the process, a memory book and a social story (specific information about what to expect in a situation and why) has been made which can be used to look back on or can be used as a tool to guide the children through loss.
In memory of Big Foot, pupils planted some forget me knots where they laid his ashes and then read out a lovely poem they chose before releasing some heart-shaped balloons with messages attached by pupils.
This was a wonderful way to mark the passing of their special furry friend and say goodbye.
