Lava lamps studied
11 November 2020
Holmfirth Class from Abbeywood School recently studied the psychedelic lava lamp in science.
The pupils started by researching how the invention, created in the 60s work and conducted two experiments. One included oil, water, and food colouring, and the other explored dense liquids, ranging from honey, washing up liquid, hand sanitiser, cooking oil, water, cornflour, and water.
The investigators concluded that the denser the liquid, the more impressive their solution looked. They also gained a good understanding of how different types of substances have different density levels.
Great teamwork everyone!
