Will's Story

“With a team of staff cheering him on it is no wonder that Will has the confidence and self-belief to dream big and continue on track for a fantastic future.”

Will's Story

Will’s passion for the outdoors often resulted in him exploring derelict buildings that were unsafe and experiment with inappropriate substances during his time absconding from school. His carers became increasingly worried and came to the heart breaking decision to end his placement as they felt they could no longer keep him safe.

Support

On arrival to Stonycroft Children’s Home, boundaries and expectations were put in place to make him feel safe and staff worked with Will to build trusting relationships so that he could feel comfortable and share his emotions and accept the help available to him.

Achievement

Over time and with the support and encouragement given to him by staff, the boy that arrived at the home has flourished into a young man who is able to regulate his behaviours and utilise the strategies shared by the staff team. His only risk taking behaviour now consists of excelling in long distance running, achieving an array of awards and medals on behalf of his school, Oversands. The sporting achievements have led to him having increased self-esteem and making friends.

With a team of staff cheering him on it is no wonder that Will has the confidence and self-belief to dream big and continue on track for a fantastic future.
