Deputy Head Teacher

Salary: Leadership 8 – Leadership 12, plus Teachers Pension and Medicash Scheme
Location: Elmbank and Wrenfield Learning Centres – Northeast

Those Huge Small Victories

Our Deputy Head Teachers are fulfilled by the idea of making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things. There’s lots of ups and downs, and to some of our young people, sitting through a lesson can be a big win. We call these huge small victories and whilst they may seem small on the surface, they add up to make a big difference

Get out what you put in

You’ll be working with girls who have experienced a range of adverse childhood experiences including CSE and SEMH difficulties. Alongside the Head Teacher and the Pastoral Care Manager, you’ll support the delivery of the vision of the learning centre, ensuring we have the right people and plans in place to see that our young people leave feeling proud of what they’ve achieved. You will need to be resilient and dedicated, but those huge small victories that you achieve will be something you’re really proud of.

It can be a tough journey, but the positive steps forward will more than make up for it. As a Deputy Head Teacher at Witherslack Group, you’ll get all the support you need to succeed, from the broader management team, to a range of supporting specialists. Your colleagues will be the best at what they do, the school environments will be well-resourced and we’ll be with you every step of the way, helping you build a rewarding teaching career.

One of the best environments in SEND

The positive impact you can have on a young person’s life is most likely the reason you got into teaching in the first place. Working across Wrenfield and Elmbank Learning Centres, that impact will be greater than you could have imagined.

Wrenfield, a new learning centre, along with the established Elmbank Learning centre, cater for a very small cohort of pupils with complex needs. It will take a special teacher and leader, to build relationships and give the personalised support needed, to allow these learners to flourish and develop in this environment. Being creative, flexible, adaptable, dynamic and resilient are key traits for this role. With knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice, you will support pupils to achieve personalised success beyond what they ever believed they could.
