The sporting success at Avon Park School continues to blossom as pupils get stuck into a variety of sporting activities to develop skills such as team working, communication, leadership and time management.
To kick start the roundup of sports news, the football team played a Futsal game against Chilworth House School at Oxford University. Ed Wright, Assistant Head Teacher from Avon Park School commented:
“Both sets of players displayed great sportsmanship and there were fantastic examples of skills throughout the matches and goals were executed well.”
You may remember that a year ago, pupils from Avon Park were victorious in their Level 3 School Games Rowing competition and the training for this year’s competition has started.
Although last year’s champion is no longer eligible to take part because of his age, it didn’t stop him helping Ed with this year’s team.
As you can see, the boys are working together to perfect their rowing skills and hope to bring back another trophy in May.
Throughout this term, pupils have been enjoying PE sessions with professional players from a local rugby team. Players from Coventry Rugby Club have been working with pupils to develop their skills and tagging techniques. During lunch times, the players also play games with pupils giving them opportunities to apply their skills.
As you can see from the action shots, there are most definitely some future rugby stars!
