There’s been a flurry of activity at Avon Park School as pupils and staff continue to support their local church St George’s, whilst Orange Class work together to help a local food bank.
As part of Avon Park School’s ongoing initiative to develop community links with their neighbours, pupils recently visited the church to help at the monthly event to bring the local community together. The ongoing initiative has helped to create positive relationships and enhance teaching and learning.
Pupils served up delicious cakes, baked by themselves, and got stuck into serving drinks to the congregation. Rev. Hilary from the church was really impressed with the pupil’s behaviour, commenting that they are ‘polite, respectful and friendly every time they visit’.
Additionally, Orange Class have been learning about poverty and how different charities can support this. The budding philanthropists have researched their local foodbank and wrote persuasive letters to encourage people to join their cause. As you can see from the photo below, they’ve done a great job of collecting food.
Well done everyone!
