The rowing team at Avon Park School are delighted to announce that they came out victorious at the 2018 School Games competition.

The team of budding athletes got through the regional finals in Coventry where they competed in the two main rowing competitions, ‘individual’ and ‘team’ relays.

In the team relay, teams of four raced over a distance of 2,000m. Team Avon Park consisted of pupils Lewis, Jarrad, Charlie and Jack who rowed their way into second place in the competition.  If that wasn’t impressive enough, the individual achievements were also remarkable as  Jack came in 5th place, Jarrard third, Charlie second and Lewis amazingly finished in first.  An absolutely fantastic result.

The boys throughout the competition demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship and represented the school and Group really well and were given extra acknowledgement as the only team to take the time to thank the organisers.

Ed Wright, Assistant Head Teacher proudly commented on the amazing success by saying: “The effort our boys put in was outstanding. Towards the end of each race or leg, a few of the boys started to feel their motivation drop a little but the others in the team kept up the momentum and they pushed through to achieve more than anyone had dared to dream. We are all so proud!”.
