Recently, Avon Park School’s Primary unit visited their local church, St George’s as part of a Community Link initiative.
Edward Wright, Assistant Head Teacher has been working to develop community links with the school’s neighbours, including the church, so that they can create positive relationships and work collaboratively to enhance teaching and learning.
The children were greeted by Reverend Hilary and taken on an ‘access all areas’ tour of the church which included the pulpit, alter and even a chance to play on the church organ.
To prepare for the visit, Reverend Hilary had asked the classes to design stained glass windows for the church and as she was so impressed by the creations she displayed them on the Communion Table and behind the Baptismal Font.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and are now counting down the days until they return to St George’s for the Decorate A Tree event.
